Valerie Pimenta is the COO of M’s Wealth Solutions and the head of Investment Services, one of four divisions within Wealth Solutions that also includes Regulatory & Compliance Services, Client Operations, and Governance.
Valerie joined M in 2017, bringing with her more than 23 years of experience in compliance and investment advising. She has a bachelor’s degree in business and economics from Westmont College, and in 2002 she earned her MBA at the University of San Diego School of Business.
Prior to M, Valerie worked more than 15 years at Fisher Investments in several roles, the last being VP of Legal and Compliance. She contributed to the firm’s growth from $10 billion AUM and a couple hundred employees to $100 billion AUM and 1,800 employees.
“It was exciting and challenging to go through so much growth, but I also grew significantly and learned valuable lessons about innovation, collaboration, teamwork, and always doing what is best for the client,” Valerie recounts.
Valerie works with M leadership to innovate new services, technological advances, and processes, which are ultimately rolled out as M assets for enhanced Member Firm and partner experiences. One of her top responsibilities in this role is collaborating with Wealth Solutions CEO Bridget McNamara-Fenesy to drive continuous innovation for M Securities.
Her workday is diverse. Valerie is the guiding force for M’s Investment Operations, M Wealth, Retirement Services, and Advisor Platform and Products—each a division of Investment Services operating with its own team lead who is at the forefront for providing Member Firm assistance.
“As the COO, I’m involved in all of those brackets,” Valerie says. “A common thread through these managers is that they without a doubt understand the responsibilities advisors have to their clients and how critical it is that we support them, and truly value the relationships with our Member Firms. The word ‘dedicated’ is one that describes all four of them.”
“They have a true advisor-first mindset,” she adds.
